The Student Scientific Association of Geological and Computer Cartography „Azymut” was established in 2015 at the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics and Environmental Protection of the AGH University of Krakow,. The Association’s activities focus on organizing training sessions and mutual enhancement of members' competencies in the field of geological cartography, especially tools and techniques for improving cartographic work. Last year, as part of the IDUB grant, the project LiSEARCH was implemented. The main goal of the project was to determine the trends in lithium content variability in water and the sources of its anomalies in the Bystre thrust-sheet region located in the Fore-Dukla zone in the Western Bieszczady Mountains. Additionally, the project aimed to provide valuable experience for students in designing and implementing complex research. Achieving the goals will be possible through detailed cartographic work and geochemical research based on it. The first stage of the project involved analyzing geological maps, literature data, and comparing them with the structural relief and lineaments in the high-resolution digital elevation model (LiDAR) to develop detailed tectonic structures of the study area. As a result of two field trips, cartographic and geochemical elaboration was carried out. Two photogrammetric missions were also conducted using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the DJI Air 2S brand in the „Huczwice” and „Rabe” quarries, resulting in the creation of three-dimensional models that can be used for further structural and sedimentological analyses. In addition to implementing the grant and organizing training in cartography and GIS, the specialized team is engaged in analog sedimentological modeling of gravitational flow deposits. Previous work has involved designing a mini sedimentological laboratory and preliminary modeling, still without quantitative approach.
